Mastering Punctuation: The Right Lower Row (M , . /)

Welcome to Lesson 12 at TypingScore.org. You have learned the left side of the bottom row. Now, it is time for the Right Hand keys: M, Comma (,), Period (.), and Slash (/).

Finger Placement Guide

Just like the left hand, you will need to **curl your fingers** downward from the Home Row (JKL;).

  • Right Index Finger: Curls down from J to M.
  • Right Middle Finger: Curls down from K to , (Comma).
  • Right Ring Finger: Curls down from L to . (Period).
  • Right Pinky Finger: Curls down from ; to / (Slash).

Why is this Lesson Vital?

This lesson is different because it focuses heavily on punctuation. In professional typing and coding, the comma and period are used almost as frequently as letters. The slash (/) is essential for web addresses and dates.

Common Mistakes

The **Period (.)** and **Comma (,)** are right next to each other. Beginners often mix them up. Pay close attention to your Middle (Comma) and Ring (Period) fingers. Also, remember that the Index finger (M) should not wander over to N yet – we will cover N in the next lesson.

Practice Tip

When typing punctuation, your rhythm naturally changes. Do not rush. Ensure you are hitting the comma with your middle finger and the period with your ring finger. Accuracy here prevents messy sentences later!
