Lesson 10: Upper Row Review Test
Challenge: QWERTY + UIOP Speed Test
Upper Row Review Test: Proving Your Skills
Congratulations on reaching Lesson 10 at TypingScore.org. This is a milestone lesson. You have practiced the Home Row (ASDF JKL;) and the Upper Row (QWERTY UIOP) separately. Now, it is time for the ultimate Upper Row challenge.
What Does This Test Cover?
This test focuses on the upper row keys mixed with random patterns. The goal is to verify that you can reach up for Q, W, E, R, T, Y, U, I, O, and P without looking at the keyboard and without losing your home position.
Passing Criteria
To consider yourself "Master of the Upper Row", aim for the following stats:
- Accuracy: Above 95%. (Remember, backspace is disabled here to force precision).
- WPM (Words Per Minute): At least 15-20 WPM. Speed is secondary to accuracy at this stage.
- Comfort: You should feel no strain in your wrists. If you do, check your posture.
Why is the Upper Row So Important?
The Upper Row contains some of the most frequently used letters in English, such as E, T, O, I, and R. Mastery of this row allows you to type common words like "the", "are", "you", "our", and "top" effortlessly.
Next Step: The Bottom Row
Once you pass this test, you are ready for Lesson 11, which introduces the Bottom Row (Z, X, C, V, B, N, M). The bottom row is often considered the trickiest, so ensure your foundation on the Home and Upper rows is solid before moving on.
Take a deep breath, focus on the screen, and start your test. Good luck!
